About

The Pennsylvania Patient Navigator Network (PPNN) is a newly formed group of patient navigators from across Pennsylvania interested in learning more about patient navigation, best practices and issues from each other and outside experts.  Almost 3 years ago, Fox Chase Cancer Center, located in Philadelphia, PA, held a Patient Navigator workshop in collaboration with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.  Over 90 people attended this regional workshop.  By the end of that workshop, the idea for a statewide Navigator group was born.  Through these workshops, we learned that patient navigators were looking for additional resources in the field, connections to other patient navigators, continuing education for established programs, and best practices for new programs or institutions looking to begin a navigation program.  In response to the stated needs of patient navigators across the state, the mission of the PPNN is to create a sustainable network of patient navigators for resource and information sharing and to build best practice approaches in patient navigation with the overall goal of reducing the burden of cancer in Pennsylvania.

    Hello,

I work with the Maryland Cancer Collaborative and we are interested in creating a statewide patient navigation network similar to this one. Is there someone I can contact to get more information about this network and any lessons learned?

    Thank you,

      Hi Ann,

Thanks for writing. That is very exciting news that you are interested in creating a statewide navigation program in Maryland! I will reach out to our founding members and see if someone is able to contact you directly. I have been working with the committee for about a year now. I am happy to share some of our experience with conference planning and organization, but for details about how up to get a group up and going I think it will be most helpful to hear from one of our members that participated early on.

Thanks again for your interest! Someone will be in touch with you soon!
