Linda Fleisher, PhD, MPH is the Assistant Vice President of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Office of Health Communications and Health Disparities, and past Program Director of the Atlantic Region Cancer Information Service, Philadelphia, PA. She has over 20 years of experience in cancer control, program management and research. She was Co-PI of the Pennsylvania Patient Navigator Demonstration Project funded by the PA Department of Health. She is also a member of Pfizer’s Speaker’s Bureau on Patient Navigation and the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators Board.
Aileen Galley, ACSW, LSW is the Administrative Director of the Penn State Cancer Institute at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, PA. She has extensive experience as a health care administrator, social worker and case manager, specializing in oncology. She oversaw the implementation and operations of the rural arm of the Pennsylvania Patient Navigator Demonstration Project at Mount Nittany Medical Center. When the grant ended, Ms. Galley secured organizational commitment to sustain the Patient Navigator program, and expanded its scope to encompass all disease sites. She was a presenter at the October 26, 2007 workshop on Patient Navigation sponsored by Fox Chase Cancer Center and Pfizer.
Karen Schwaderer, RN, BSN, OCN™ is the Breast Navigator at the West Penn Allegheny Health System, Forbes Regional Campus. Previously, she worked to develop research based Navigator programs for an NCI funded grant throughout Western Pennsylvania. In her new role which is funded by Susan G. Komen Foundation, she is providing comprehensive breast care to patients with abnormal findings on mammography. She coordinates their care from biopsy on to surgical, medical and radiation oncology. Once a diagnosis is made, patients have a contact person to assist in receiving a wide range of services including genetic counseling, Lymphedema care, prosthetics etc.
Elaine Sein, RN, BSN, OCN, CBCN is the Senior Project Manager for the Fox Chase Cancer Partner Program which established a Breast Care Coordinator/Patient Navigator program in 2004. This program has grown from 6 original Navigators to 20 presently. The establishment of the Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners Breast Care Coordinator/Navigator group was Elaine Sein’s ONS Leadership Development Institute project. Ms. Sein recently authored the “Breast Care Coordinators/Navigators Orientation Manual” which was funded through the American Cancer Society. She is also a member of Pfizer’s speaker bureau and on the advisory board for the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators. She is currently a member of the Oncology Nursing Society Project Team on Nurse Sensitive Quality Measures for Breast Care.
