“Linked By Pink” Offers Assistance in Erie, Pa

I recently read a blog post from Heather Stempka, Founder & President of Linked By Pink (LBP) on the PA Breast Cancer Coalition blog. Heather is a breast cancer survivor and will also be presenting at the 2011 PA Breast Cancer Coalition Conference. I though our navigators would be interested in this local resource, so I got some  information from Heather and here is what she said about LBP:

“Linked By Pink is a local Non-Profit organization consisting of Erie and surrounding area women diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 45. Our mission is to Raise awareness of breast cancer  while raising funds for patients and their families in the Erie and surrounding communities.

Our goal is to provide support for all those diagnosed with breast cancer, but especially the young.  We are here to assist them on their journeys with breast cancer and to be a place they can feel they belong.  We, as survivors, want to be an inspiration for them just as someone was for us when we needed it.  This battle doesn’t have to be fought alone. We have all been there, some of us more than once.

Finally, we raise funds for patients, survivors, research and awareness in the Erie and surrounding areas. We have medical grants for patients, scholarships for Erie County seniors, and newly diagnosed baskets as well as a monthly support meeting.”- Heather Stempka
