Clinical Faculty

Sarcoma, Orthopedic Surgery

John-Abraham-revJohn A. Abraham, MD, is filling a new role as a surgeon focused on bone and soft-tissue sarcomas, as well as bone metastases. He is also service chief in the division of orthopedic oncology at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia. Before this, he was the surgeon for the Center for Sarcoma and Bone Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He previously completed an orthopedic oncology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Boston, and a residency at Harvard University. He received his MD from Yale University School of Medicine.

Thoracic, Head and Neck Cancers

Jessica-Bauman-revJessica R. Bauman, MD, assistant professor in the department of hematology/oncology, is practicing in the thoracic, head and neck, and pain and palliative care programs. She completed a fellowship in oncology at
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Prior, she finished a palliative medicine fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also completed residency training in internal medicine. She earned her MD at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

Pathology

Yulan-Gong-revYulan Gong, MD, has become a faculty member in the department of pathology after finishing a cytopathology fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital, where she also completed residency training in pathology and served as chief resident. In addition, she completed an oncological surgical pathology fellowship at Fox Chase. She received her MD from Shanghai Medical University (now Medical Center of Fudan University) in Shanghai, P.R. China.

Endocrinology

Pankaj-Sharda-revPankaj Sharda, MD, joins the department of medicine. His focus is on endocrinology with a special interest in calcium, bone and mineral metabolism, osteoporosis, and thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary disorders. He completed an endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism fellowship at Temple University Hospital, where he served as chief fellow. He received his MD from Rajiv Gandhi Medical College in Mumbai, India and finished a residency in internal medicine at Atlantic Health-Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J., serving as chief resident in his final year.

Gastrointestinal Cancer

Namrata-Vijayvergia-revNamrata (Neena) Vijayvergia, MD, joins the department of hematology/oncology after finishing her fellowship in hematology and oncology at Fox Chase, having served as chief fellow. She has a special interest in neuroendocrine tumors and pancreatic cancer. She fills a new role as inpatient consulting physician for Jeanes Hospital, rounding on-site on a daily basis and also providing services for the gastrointestinal clinical program at Fox Chase. She completed residency training at Temple University Hospital, where she also served as chief resident. She received her MD from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, University of Rajasthan in Ajmer, India.

Genitourinary, Breast Cancers

Matt-Zibelman-revMatthew R. Zibelman, MD, joins the department of hematology/oncology after completing his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Fox Chase. He is part of the genitourinary research initiative and is practicing in the breast clinical program. Prior to his fellowship, he served as assistant professor of medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee after finishing an internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago, where he served as chief resident. He received his MD from Temple University School of Medicine.

Research Administration

Clinical Research

Jean-Gatewood-revJean Gatewood, VP of Clinical Research Operations, oversees and leads all aspects of clinical research operations and business administration; regulatory affairs; quality control, assurance, and improvement; and contributes to the development of programs and processes that reflect commitment to the cancer center support grant, which earns Fox Chase its status as an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. She was previously employed at NYU Langone Medical Center, where she served most recently as director of the Office of Clinical Research.
