Philosophy:

The Creative Beginnings curriculum incorporates principles of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP); knowledge of child development and learning styles; knowledge of each child's individual strengths, abilities, and interests; and knowledge of the social and cultural contexts in which each child lives.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to nurture children and their families by providing a safe, stimulating, and responsive environment.  Our high quality of care enables families to focus on their work with peace of mind.

Program Overviews:

Infant / Toddler Curriculum

The Creative Beginnings Infant/Toddler Curriculum is designed to support the overall development of infants and toddlers through individual planning in a learning environment that is nurturing, stimulating, and responsive.  Daily routines and relationships are the basis of the infant and toddler curriculum. The interests and needs of each child are considered when arranging the environment and selecting toys and materials. Time and space is provided for large muscle development, sensory experiences, and exploratory play inside and outside of the classroom. Teachers provide many opportunities for our youngest children to explore the world through their senses. These experiences help build a foundation for secure relationships and positive learning experiences that will last a lifetime.

Toddler-Plus Curriculum

The Creative Beginnings Toddler-Plus Curriculum is designed to support the overall development of 24 – 36 month old children through a carefully planned, stimulating learning environment.  The daily schedule provides large and small group experiences with flexibility to respond to increasing skill level and growing independence.  The environment is designed to be a forerunner to the preschool-level environment.  The curriculum is designed to enable more child-initiated choices as children become ready.  The classroom is arranged into areas that promote exploration and learning through play.  These areas include dramatic play, blocks, table games, practical life, science, literacy, creative expression, and gross motor.  The Toddler-Plus Curriculum is a dynamic approach rooted in emergent themes that are primarily hands-on, concrete, and child-directed.  Activities promote social/emotional and intellectual development of children through naturally occurring interactions. The curriculum is supplemented by specialists who offer music and seasonal gymnastics experiences.

HighReach Learning for Twos and Threes, part of the Toddler-Plus program, is aligned with PA Early Learning Standards and built on three ideas which support our program philosophy:

The HighReach Learning curriculum is designed to enhance learning opportunities that are rich in language and hands-on discovery for young children.

Preschool / Pre-K Curriculum

The Creative Beginnings Preschool/Pre-K Curriculum is designed to support the overall development of our 3 to 5 year old children through a carefully planned, stimulating learning environment.  A mixed-age group promotes social/emotional and intellectual development of preschool-age children through naturally occurring interactions.  The Preschool and Pre-K Curriculum is a dynamic approach rooted in emergent themes that are primarily hands-on, concrete, and child-directed.  The curriculum is supplemented by specialists who offer music, art, science, literacy, and seasonal gymnastics experiences.

Kindergarten Curriculum

The Creative Beginnings Kindergarten Curriculum is an integrated approach that combines a strong Language Arts component with emergent themes in math, science, geography, and social studies. Hands-on materials provide a way to present new concepts and skills to children either as a whole class or a small group, or serve as extensions of lessons. The curriculum is supplemented by specialists who offer music, science, literacy, and gymnastics experiences.
